Avatar of Light

Dmitry Bilik

Sergei managed to lay his hands on the Divine Avatar of Savior which brings with it the kinds of new abilities other players can only dream of. Still, it’s not the right moment to relax and go with the flow. Two of his friends have been captured; the third one is being kept hostage while Sergei is forced to procure the Elixir of Power.

And just to add insult to injury, Sergei is on the radar of Moros, one of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. And their future meeting doesn’t bode well for Sergei...

Sergei is still learning about how Seekers work, how the Community works, and the interworld network. There is some time spent on Purgator, but after that it is all set in Cesspit (Earth). This is a slice of life story with some good actions followed by long sections of dating, theorizing, talking to the parents, discovering something new, and more dating.

The RPG stuff is pretty light with the main character getting more spells this time. The mini time travel aspect is still the most interesting part of the story. It allows for the MC to die, get trapped, or make mistakes and not end the story. Instead, he just rewinds time a few seconds and he can try again. Just as a note, that cliffhanger ending of book 1 is resolved immediately in book 2, in a kinda unsatisfying way. Thankfully book 2 doesn’t have that kind of ending. Score: 7.2 out of 10

Fun book, fun series. Worth reading.
