I had been cursed long before I was born, and in such circumstances it would be foolish to hope for a long, happy life. Nothing sticks to you quite like a curse, and there is nothing on this Earth that will help you cheat fate: no oaths; no vows; no bargains... I would have perished long ago, only this stray, it seems, still had one life left.
And so I achieved the impossible. I had cheated fate, and in doing so, I had lost everything that I held dear, but I had ignited within myself the searing white flame of witchcraft.
I became someone else. A Seer. A mage and a sorcerer. An Adept in every respect!
