Victorian hates attracting attention unnecessarily.
Unfortunately, he keeps attracting attention by saving people.
It’s not easy pulling together a loyal team. It’s even tougher finding people he can trust. For this reason, Victorian has chosen to take a different approach and gives a second chance to those consigned long ago to the dust heap.
Seasoned veterans whose health no longer allows them to serve their country, or at times even to look after themselves, are given a chance to start their lives afresh.
Indeed, what are their problems to a chimerologist who‘s capable of cultivating new organs, restoring lost limbs, and accomplishing what others consider impossible?
Of course, if Victorian really wanted not to be noticed, he shouldn‘t be saving people when powerful chimeras attack the city boundaries. Only he’s never been able to walk on by when others are suffering.
He also has another problem: there are too many people who mistake his kindness for weakness.
Some of them are out to exploit an honest man for their own ends. Others are confident they can break him. And a few sincerely believe they can make him play by their own rules.
They soon find out just how wrong they are.
Because Victorian has never been a weak man.
And one should never confuse kindness with weakness. Everyone has their limits.
