Military fiction tells stories of war and armed conflict through the perspectives of soldiers, officers, commanders, or entire armies. Combat operations, tactics, strategy, discipline, unit organization, and decisions in extreme conditions usually play an important part in the plot.
Unlike ordinary adventure fiction, military fiction focuses on the nature of organized conflict itself. It is not only the hero’s personal adventures that matter, but also the actions of units, command, resources, and the consequences of decisions for an entire campaign.
