Dystopian Books

Dystopia depicts a society in which a state, corporation, or another institution has gained excessive control over human life. Surveillance, censorship, propaganda, social engineering, and the suppression of individuality often form the basis of such a world.

Unlike post-apocalyptic fiction, dystopia usually does not portray society as destroyed. On the contrary, it continues to function, sometimes even appearing efficient on the surface. The central conflict arises between a person and the system that determines how they must live, think, and act.
