Steampunk Books

Steampunk presents an alternative world in which technology develops through steam, mechanics, and the aesthetics of the industrial age. Elaborate mechanisms, airships, steam engines, gears, and unusual inventions often coexist with the atmosphere of the nineteenth century.

Unlike ordinary historical fiction, steampunk deliberately adds technologies to the past that never existed. Familiar historical aesthetics therefore become a self-contained retrofuturistic universe.
